Fox Sports has confirmed the flight logs from JetBlue Airways are incorrect and that the airline is in fact flying out of Newark, New Jersey.
According to Fox Sports’ Adam Schefter, the logs showed that the flight from Newark to Newark International Airport was delayed because of weather and that flight was diverted to New York.
JetBlue’s Twitter account posted a statement Thursday night, stating, “The JetBlue flight was cancelled due to severe weather at Newark Airport, the reason is being determined at this time.
The aircraft is currently en route to New Orleans.”
The airline later clarified that flight from New York to New Jersey was canceled, as well.
The flight logs have been retweeted more than 5,300 times since the news broke.
The tweets include numerous tweets from fans who said they were shocked to hear the news and also included photos of people who tweeted about being on the flight.
On Wednesday, JetBlue said in a statement that it “will not comment on the particulars of individual cases” and “it is premature to speculate on whether a specific incident has occurred.”
We are deeply saddened to hear of this tragic loss of life and are cooperating fully with the authorities,” the airline said.
