New Jersey may be known for its sunny beaches, but it’s also home to some of the priciest flights to and from New York.
But what you need to know before booking your next flight to New York City can help you save money on flights to other major US cities, as well as on other international flights.
Here are the things you should know about flights to NYC.
What are the cheapest international flights to New Jersey?
A flight from New Jersey to New Orleans takes about $3,000 per person, according to FlightAware, a company that helps travelers book their flights.
That’s more than double the rate of most flights to the city, where fares average about $400 per person.
That compares with New York, which average about half that.
In New Jersey, it’s more like $1,400 per passenger, and the average New Yorker would save $2,500 per trip.
The cheapest flights to Manhattan are $3-4,000, and there’s a wide variety of choices.
For example, flights from New Orleans to New Bedford, Mass., average $5,000 each, and from Brooklyn to New Hyde Park, N.Y., average about four times that.
The best deals are from the New York-Newark International Airport (NIA), a long-distance hub in New Jersey.
It’s more expensive than you’d think, however, when it comes to connecting flights to your destination.
A New York flight to Boston takes $3.25 per person (about $1 more than New York).
For New Jersey flights, the average price is about $1.50 per person; you’d save about $4.
The lowest fare you could find is $3 per person for connecting flights from Manhattan to Boston, or $1 for connecting between New York and New Bedford.
In between, there’s usually a few flights per day.
It’s worth noting that many international flights don’t require a connecting flight, and some of them include stopovers or additional time between destinations.

Are there any other fares you should be aware of?
If you’re interested in connecting flights in other major cities, you’ll need to check with the airline to see if they offer a cheaper fare.
Most of the smaller international airlines don’t offer that option.
If there’s one, you can check its website to see the cost per person and add it to your travel plans.
If you do want to save even more money, check the airlines that are offering a connecting option.
For instance, you could use the airlines’ website to compare prices for connecting to flights to Tokyo, Los Angeles, Paris, London, Singapore and other major European destinations.
If the price of connecting is cheaper than the price you’d pay for the same trip, that’s a sign that you might be better off staying at home.
